Shelly Smith Bio
I grew-up on a farm in Southwest Iowa. I studied Mass Communications, art and photography at the University of South Dakota. I worked in photo journalism and advertising in the Midwest. I expanded my experience in the western U.S., Germany, and Turkey working in photo processing and portrait & wedding photography, public relations, and teaching photography. I also began marketing photos through stock photo agencies, retail stores, and art galleries. Living in Europe gave me the opportunity to build a large stock of European and Middle Eastern photography. Through the Clarinda Arts Council I began a nonprofit art classes program in Clarinda called Summer Arts. I served as director and instructor. I also taught art and photography at Big Bend University, Clarinda Luther School and Iowa Western Community College. I worked as a graphic artist for The Clarinda Company and am currently Marketing Director for Shenandoah Chamber & Industry Association. I contract my photo services for many forms of photography....industrial, artistic, still life, landscape, architectural, events, advertising, portraits, weddings, and photo intruction. My photos and greeting cards sell at Get Framed in Shenandoah, IA, Photori Stock Photo Agency, and directly from my photo business Photography on the Move.
